A PARENTING organisation is hoping to secure funding to support families with weaning their babies.
An application from Star Parenting CIC to the Better Burntwood fund will be debated by members of Burntwood Town Council’s community and partnerships committee next week.
The organisation is hoping to secure £640 to deliver courses helping parents introduce their babies to eating solid foods.
An application from Star Parenting CIC said:
“Starting solid foods with a baby is a big milestone for parents. They can find it overwhelming with conflicting advice from different sources.
“Star Parenting CIC has a starting solids workshop full of activities to engage and inform parents. The course covers the pros and cons of different methods of feeding, up to date guidelines and the research behind them.”
The workshop is planned to take place at Spark Burntwood and would give participants handouts and food samples to support weaning.
The application added:
“The support we require will pay for two facilitators to run the course for eight parents and their babies.
“In addition, it will cover the finance, administration, recording and reporting needed to make the running of the course possible.”
The application will be discussed at the committee meeting on 2nd July.
