PLANS for 140 new apartments on land in Lichfield have been formally submitted.
The proposals form part of the wider Birmingham Road development site.
Located on the former Tempest Ford plot, the scheme would also feature a gym, concierge, co-working space, basement parking and terraces.
A statement accompanying the application submitted to Lichfield District Council said:
“The application seeks consent for apartments contained within two independent blocks on the former local authority car park.
“The buildings are three storeys facing St John Street and step up to four storeys plus activated roof space towards the centre of the site and towards the bus station.
“An important feature of the scheme which has emerged is that one if the internal courtyards, opposite St John’s, has been kept open, giving a view from it to the Grade I-listed medieval hospital almshouse chimneys. This broad gap is flanked by three-storey blocks in a broadly Georgian style sympathetic to the local streetscape.”
