POLICE are focusing on the Lichfield area as part of a new crackdown on illegal drivers.
Operation Limit has already seen Staffordshire Police arrest more than 40 people since 1st December after carrying out more than 650 roadside drug and drink driving tests.
Of those arrested, 21 were for providing a positive roadside breath test, while 22 were held on suspicion of drug driving.
The operation has switched to the Lichfield area today (13th December) with vehicle stops taking place.
Inspector Chris Moss said:
“Drink and drug driving is one of the four main factors of serious injury and fatal collisions.
“We want to make it clear that those who think they can get behind the wheel under the influence will be targeted robustly in Staffordshire.”
