PREPARATIONS are taking place ahead of the Burntwood Wakes Festival.

The free event takes place at Burntwood Leisure Centre from 12pm to 4pm on 19th July.

It will feature fairground rides, inflatables, live music, a street velodrome, charity and community stalls, food vendors, a petting zoo, climbing wall and more.

Cllr Laura Ennis, chair of Burntwood Town Council, said:

“It’s amazing that Burntwood Town Council can provide this much-loved free event year after year.

“I’m looking forward to enjoying the fantastic rides, community and charity stalls, petting zoo and so much more.

“I go every year with my children and they absolutely love it. I look forward to seeing everyone there.”

There will also be free packed lunches for children thanks to funding from The Noel Sweeney Foundation.

Cllr Di Evans, chair of the town council’s community and partnerships committee said:

“The Burntwood Wakes is such an important community event and it is an opportunity to enjoy a free family day out. We are grateful to the wider community who have joined us in organising, sponsoring and enhancing the event this year.”

Sponsorship has been provided by Lichfield District Council, M Core, Crown Highways, The Drill Inn and Roadtech Cutting Services.
