PROPOSALS have been drawn up for 130 new homes on land in Burntwood.
Barratt Homes has launched a consultation on the scheme planned for land east of Rugeley Road.
The developer said it would feature both open market and affordable homes, as well as public open space.
The plot lies next to land earmarked for around 250 new properties by Bloor Homes.
A spokesperson for Barratt Homes said:
"The proposed development seeks to deliver up to 130 homes with accompanying public open space.
"The application will be made in outline, except access points, with details relating to layout, landscaping and appearance to be addressed at a further reserved matters stage.
"A new vehicular access is proposed off Rugeley Road and a movement framework that gives priority to pedestrians and cyclists, establishes streets that maintain low vehicle speeds, and provides footpath connections to the adjacent area."
Cllr Andrew Clissett, Reform UK representative for Burntwood North, said the latest proposals would add even more pressure on local infrastructure and services.
He said:
"While 130 homes might seem isolated, this marks the fourth proposed development in our immediate area.
"When looking at the compounding impact, the numbers paint a worrying picture for our local infrastructure, with this latest project pushing the collective total of recently proposed homes well past the 1,055 mark.
"To put that into perspective, this represents roughly a 10% increase in Burntwood’s total housing stock.
"Our local GP surgeries and utilities are already stretched thin – and with the development sitting right next to Fulfen Primary School, education provisions will face massive pressure. At this rate of growth, the community won't just need expanded classrooms, we will likely need an entirely new school built to accommodate local families."
