Proposals for two new homes on land in Longdon Green have been refused planning permission.
The two give bedroom detached properties were earmarked for land currently occupied by a stables and paddock area on Hay Lane.
But Lichfield District Council’s planning department has rejected the scheme due to the development sitting in the Green Belt and outside of the settlement boundary in rural area.
A decision notice said:
“The proposed development fails to meet any of the exceptions and constitutes inappropriate development within the Green Belt.
“Additional harm to the Green Belt would also arise from the loss of openness and failing to safeguard the countryside from encroachment, thereby conflicting with the purposes of including the land in the Green Belt.
“The proposed development does not satisfy any of the exceptions for residential development in rural areas and is therefore unacceptable as a matter of principle.”
