The company building a radiotherapy clinic near Lichfield is lobbying MPs and health officials about the poor state of facilities in the UK.
CancerPartnersUK is constructing a new unit at Spire Little Aston Hospital and has published a report on its website highlighting issues with radiotheraphy facilities across the country.
The report has been co-authored by Professor Karol Sikora with input from senior oncologists, and claims the UK has fallen behind with uptake of new technology, such as IMRT and IGRT. It also suggests ways provision could be improved.

The CancerPartnersUK report coincides with the publication of a report by Cancer Research UK which claims that there is a general lack of awareness by the public of how good radiotherapy is at treating cancer.
The new centre at Spire Little Aston Hospital will treat patients with many types of cancer and will open in March 2011.
