A NEW report has said that the number of Staffordshire roads considered to be in a 'good' condition has jumped to 83%.
The annual submission to the Government by Staffordshire County Council said that the figure had risen from 73% in 2025.
It also revealed that over the past year almost 31,000 potholes had been repaired.
The council said that the use of annual road surveys, high-resolution cameras and AI analysis was helping to spot problems earlier and target work where it is most needed.
Cllr Peter Mason, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for strategic highways, said:
"Everyone relies on Staffordshire’s roads, whether that is for work, school, appointments, visiting family or running a business.
"We know people want to see roads improved, and this report shows what we are doing, where we are investing and how we are using better information to make the biggest difference.
"There is no quick fix, but we are changing the way we work, fixing more issues early and focusing on keeping Staffordshire moving."
