A report has recommended plans to create new holiday accommodation at a marina in Lichfield are approved.

The scheme at Kings Orchard Marina in Huddlesford would see new glamping pods, lodges and additional caravan pitches, along with a new fishing lake.

Objections had been raised by both Whittington and Fisherwick Parish Council and Fradley Streethay Parish Council over concerns with things such as the impact on the local road network.

But a report to a meeting of Lichfield District Council’s planning committee has recommended the scheme be given the green light.

“It is considered that the proposed development would not have any significant impact on the surrounding highway network.

“The proposed use of the site for tourism purposes accords in principle with the tourism and countryside management policies within the Local Plan.

“During the course of the application the applicant has supplied additional information in relation to demand, which the council’s economic development officer has acknowledged and confirmed that the increase in contribution to the local visitor economy is welcomed and supported.”

Planning report

The proposals will be discussed at a meeting on Monday (6th June).
