RESIDENTS will decide whether or not a by-election should take place following the resignation of a member of Lichfield City Council.

Scott Hollingsworth, representative for the Stowe ward, confirmed he had stood down with immediate effect due to health and personal reasons.

Lichfield City Council has now begun the formal process of announcing the vacancy, which means that if ten or more voters from the ward area write to request a new vote then one will be held.

If they don’t do so within 14 working days from 18th November then a new councillor will be co-opted via a vote of council members.

Voters can request a by-election by writing to The Returning Officer, Lichfield District Council, District Council House, Frog Lane, Lichfield, WS13 6YY.
