People are being urged to make sure they have their say in the latest HS2 consultation.
The Government has launched an eight-week window for residents to comment on proposed route changes and the environmental impact of high speed rail.
And Staffordshire County Councillor Mark Winnington has said people must take the opportunity to make their views known.
“This is the most significant transport infrastructure project in decades and the impact on our environment and our communities in Staffordshire will be enormous,” he explained. “As a council we will be looking at every detail of the report and would urge residents to take the time over the coming weeks to look at both environmental studies and the proposed changes to the route.”
Some changes have been made to the initial plans for HS2 at Lichfield in order to ensure services on the line will not be impacted when Phase Two of the project continues up to Manchester.
Cllr Winnington added: “We are doing everything we can to both help Staffordshire residents at a local level mitigate the impact of both phases and ensure they win fair compensation if the value of their homes is affected.
“While there is no tangible benefit to the county we will also be doing everything in our powers to ensure the best outcome for Staffordshire residents.”
