A SPECIALIST space where families can find comfort and privacy during end of life care is due to open at St Giles Hospice this week.
The project has been funded by the Government and a grant from the Francis and Eric Ford charity.
The space is being transformed to create a welcoming environment where families can spend time together away from patient rooms.
The family lounge will feature comfortable sofas, a television and kitchen facilities. A dedicated children’s area will adjoin the main room, equipped with a games console, games and a TV.
Elinor Eustace, CEO of St Giles Hospice, said:
“This new family lounge represents our commitment to supporting not just our patients, but their entire family network during their end of life journey.
“We understand how important it is for families to have a comfortable, private space to gather, rest, and support each other during challenging times.”
The new family lounge will open tomorrow (16th July) and will be available for use by all visitors to St Giles Hospice.
