TWO second half goals proved decisive as Chasetown lost 2-0 at 1874 Northwich.

The opening half saw the Scholars begin brightly but come up against a resolute home backline.

Jack Langston went close to breaking the deadlock early in the second period but his volley flew just over the bar.

Tak Sambizi was then denied by a save – before the home stopper repeated the trick with a fantastic stop to keep out Kyle Moseley's effort.

But Northwich were posing a threat of their own at the other end with a shot on goal kept out by a fine fingertip save by Pond.

The breakthrough went the way of the home side 20 minutes from time when Ben Crane found the net.

Chasetown's task got even tougher when Nathan Cameron was shown a red card.

The win was wrapped up when John McGrath converted a penalty to condemn the Scholars to a 2-0 win.
