A LOCAL karate talent has won a silver medal in an international competition.

Frankie Carless represented England at the JKS World Cup in Brazil.

The 15-year-old won five bouts and narrowly lost out to a Chilean opponent in the final of the make cadet kumite category.

It follows his previous successes including bronze medals in the JKS European Cup in Denmark and the English International Open.

Frankie will now prepare to represent his country again in the WKF Cadet, Junior and Under-21 World Karate Championships in Poland in October.
