LICHFIELD City's miserable start to the season continued as they were hammered 6-0 at Lye Town in the FA Cup.

The Trade Tyre Community Stadium side had hoped for some relief after losses in all of their league fixtures so far.

But they found little respite as they were thumped by opponents from the division below.

The opening goal came on the stroke of half-time from Elliott Ball.

Any hopes of a second half comeback were swiftly dashed when Luke Sidaway headed home to make it 2-0.

Lye added a third on 65 minutes via Alfie Didlock – and Boubacar Diallo made it four moments later.

Things got even worse when Didlock bagged his second 15 minutes from time.

Lye made it 6-0 just before the final whistle courtesy of a Danny Cartwright strike.
