CHASETOWN picked up a point after a tough home test against Stalybridge Celtic.
The Scholars got a dream start when Matt Hearsey beat a defender in the third minute before delivering for Kyle Moseley to continue his run of form with the opening goal.
It could have been two shortly afterwards but visiting keeper Charlie Monks pushed away a shot from a narrow angle.
But Stalybridge levelled things up after 23 minutes when Ruben Jerome's follow-up strike beat Anthony Nunez after the home stopper had originally kept out Liam Tongue's effort.
The away side nearly went in front shortly afterwards when Fortune Maphosa found Lewis Rawsthorn, but his volley was just wide.
Hearsey saw a curling effort kept out by the visiting keeper as the Scholars looked to try and restore their advantage before the break.
If Chasetown were quickest out of the blocks in the first half then the roles were reversed in the second as Stalybridge got their noses in front when Lewis Rawsthorn's effort from outside the box found the back of the net.
Jerome tried to stretch the lead further with a header just wide before Tongue's strike was kept out by Nunez.
Manager Carl Dickinson made changes as he went in search of a leveller – and it paid off five minutes from time as sub Matt Funge fired home after being played in by Hearsey to earn his side a point.
