Lichfield racer Gary Mason has had his first experience on his new bike.

The British Superbikes star got in the saddle on the Ninja ZX-10R as the MSS Colchester Kawasaki team kicked off their testing at Cartagena in Southern Spain.

Warm weather enabled the Lichfield man to join his team-mates to put the bike through its paces on the hot track.

The team’s boss Nick Morgan said:

“It was a very positive first test for the team. We have a radically new model that needs methodically testing for settings which is what we’ve been doing. We set and exceeded our targets for the test in terms of new model familiarisation, rider development and mileage so we’re very happy so far.

“It’s early days for this new model but we can see massive potential in the bikes. The riders and team are working well, we have no egos and we’re looking forward to more track time.”

The team now travel to the World Superbike track of Portimao in Portugal for a two day test.
