TWO people have been arrested in connection with a series of motorbike and moped thefts.

It follows an incident in Burntwood where a group of youths took a moped from McDonalds on Milestone Way at 2.05pm on Friday (20th June).

The following day, an attempt was made to steal a delivery driver’s moped on St John Street in Lichfield, but a resident cam to the victim’s aid forcing two suspects to flee on foot without their own motorbike – which was later found to be stolen.

The pair were later found and arrested on suspicious of vehicle theft.

Inspector Melissa Byrne, from the Lichfield local policing team, said:

“We’re working hard to protect the hard-earned belongings of our communities and to act against those responsible for thefts, burglary and robbery in Staffordshire.

“I’d urge anyone who notices anything suspicious to report to us as soon as possible. We’re patrolling hotspot locations, working with our roads policing unit and using specialists across the force to go after those involved.”
