A FRIENDLY cricket game has seen Whittington take on the Staffordshire Wolves visually impaired team.

The adapted version of the game uses larger, audible balls with teams relying on sound and teamwork to play.

The Whittington players wore glasses to mimic different levels of visual impairment.

A spokesperson said:

“The glasses gave them a feel for how their opponents play the game.

“It made for some entertaining moments and a whole new appreciation for the skills of the Wolves side.

“Both teams were a mix of ages, abilities and genders. The atmosphere was nothing short of fantastic.”

The two teams are planning a rematch next year as part of efforts to build awareness of visually impaired cricket in the area.
