A VOLUNTEER has urged people to back a fundraising raffle in aid of St Giles Hospice.
Sales close for the charity’s Summer Raffle on Wednesday (16th July).
The top prize is £8,000, with funds going to support care for local people living with a terminal illness.
Jeremy Blunt, a volunteer gardener at St Giles Hospice, is among those lending his support to the raffle after seeing his late wife, Liz, receiving specialist care after being diagnosed with myeloma, a type of bone marrow cancer.
He said:
“St Giles provided support to me and Liz all the way through to her final days.
“She died, at home, surrounded by myself and our daughters – that was her wish and St Giles helped make that happen.
“The team of volunteer gardeners has become like a second family to me. Many of us have lost our partners, and we all found support here.
“As well as volunteering, I also play the Summer Raffle – and I hope others will too. Every ticket sold helps St Giles continue its incredible work, providing care and support to families like mine.”

“Playing our Summer Raffle is a fun and easy way to support St Giles with the chance to win some fabulous cash prizes too.
“While we receive some funding from the Government, we still rely heavily on donations and income generation from our local community. Tickets cost just £1 and every ticket sold helps St Giles to continue to be there for people when they need us most.”
