Organisers of Lichfield’s Fuse festival have praised the work of volunteers who ensured the event managed to beat the wet weather.
The plug was nearly pulled after the original site of the festival in Beacon Park was covered in algae following recent downpours.
But the show went ahead after the decision was made to move the marquees to higher ground as crews arrived to set up.
Fuse director Tim Perks said “It was a tough call, but after nearly a year of planning we thought we should try to at least run something.
“Our mantra became ‘we’ll keep going until something stops us’ and, with heroic efforts from our amazing band of volunteers, nothing did.”
Last minute support and sponsorship from Western Power and Marquee Leisure meant the additional costs were covered, but organisers Lichfield Arts have appealed for donations to help ensure the free event can go ahead again in 2013.
