A cricket club near Lichfield is hoping 2011 will be a huge year as they open their new ground and pavilion.
After years of playing on the council owned Bit End Field, Whittington Cricket Club have begun development of the new facility, funded largely by grants from the ECB and their own fundraising efforts.
And with work on the new pitch well underway, the new pavilion – set to cost £250,000 – began to take shape in recent weeks.
The club’s efforts were boosted when they were named as Staffordshire’s NatWest Cricket-Force club, meaning extra volunteer hours became available.
But now Whittington will be making a drive to push the project on even further with a volunteering week on March 19 and 20. They are looking for help in whatever from, from manual help to tea and coffee making.
