A MAJOR roadworks project will begin on a route in Burntwood next week.
Work will take place on Spinney Lane from Monday as part of a £350,000 upgrade.
The stretch between Bells Lane and Shelley Road will be resurfaced in the three-week project.
It will also see drainage systems cleaned, damaged kerbs and ironworks replaced along with new road markings.
A road closure will be in place daily between 7.30am and 5.30pm.
Cllr Daniel Cecil, Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet support member for highways south, said:
“As we move into summer our highways crews are making the most of the good weather to repair as many roads as possible.
“Spinney Lane is in poor condition, so this programme will give it a smoother road surface that should last for years to come.
“Of course, any major scheme such as this will require traffic management. For the safety of crews this will need to be done under a road closure during the day.
“Our crews will be working as hard as possible to get the work finished on time and are looking to lift the closures as early as possible each day to minimise disruption for residents.
“We want to thank people for bearing with us while we complete these important works, that will really make a difference to local people.”
