Developers hope to create 12 shops and a drive-thru restaurant on the former Olaf Johnson site between Cannock Road and Robins Road.

The proposals would bring much-needed investment to Burntwood, according to the developers.

In a statement supporting the planning application they said: “The town centre is in need of improvement and the scheme would extend the range and choice of shopping, and food and drink uses.

“Burntwood town centre is currently only providing a small percentage of the retail floorspace that is required to meet the needs of the local population. It is proposed that the the town centre is further developed to meet local needs.”

Full details of the proposals can be seen on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.

  1. This is really good news for Burntwood, an early Christmas present. For years, the top priority for residents in local consultations has been to get more shops here alongside the excellent local traders we have. The Town Deal partnership has been instrumental in this so I’m really pleased to see it now moving forward, as I hope local residents will be too.

  2. This is excellent news for Burntwood. Sue Woodward has worked very hard for a long time to get the Town Deal underway and at last it is coming to fruition. The residents have consistently asked for improved retail provision for many years and I am sure they will be delighted.

  3. It is not just about the Town Deal although I have to admit that has brought Plans closer to fruition but there are others of us who have worked constantly over many years to improve the retail Outlets in Burntwood
