A GARDENING project helping to support adults with learning disabilities has been boosted by a donation of a piece of equipment.
COGS Prepares for Life CIO has been handed the Terrex Auto Spade by local resident Albert Ford after the organisation had been contacted by Cllr Dave King from Hammerwich Parish Council.
The tool will help staff and volunteers to keep their allotments in top condition.
A spokesperson for COGS said:
"Our allotments are about much more than simply growing vegetables. They provide opportunities to develop confidence, practical skills, independence, teamwork and a sense of purpose, while also bringing people together and encouraging healthier, more active lifestyles.
"The Terrex Auto Spade will make the job much quicker and easier, allowing our staff, volunteers and service users to spend less time battling with the soil and more time actually growing things, maintaining the plots and enjoying the allotment.
"It will be particularly valuable for helping us prepare new beds, cultivate existing ground and keep our allotments productive throughout the year.
"Most importantly, it's equipment that can be shared and used by our whole COGS community.
"We absolutely love the fact that a tool which once helped Albert on his own allotment is now being passed on to our COGS allotments, where it will continue to be used by our community for years to come."
