ALREWAS moved themselves out of the drop zone with a vital victory at Chesterfield.
After winning the toss, the Herons opted to send their hosts in to bat first, making an early breakthrough when Craig Swinfield removed opener Luke Westwell for just five.
But fellow Chesterfield opener Ben Slater was in fine form as he struck 116 from 117 balls until he was eventually caught by Swinfield off the bowling off William Hodgkinson to leave his side on 182-6.
Kevin Leatherday also added vital numbers to the tally as he made 56 before being run out.
Chesterfield eventually closed the innings on 237-8, with Sam van Daesdonk the pick of the Alrewas bowlers with figures of 3-27.
The Herons showed efficiency with the bat though as James Burton struck an unbeaten 110 as his side passed the target with just two wickets falling.
