A Lichfield museum is launching a new series of lectures.
Dr Nicholas Cambridge will start things off at Erasmus Darwin House with his talk From Bladder Stone to Devonshire Colic: Benjamin Franklin & Medicine on September 20, with further discussions to follow in September.
A spokesperson said: “Franklin’s name is familiar to us all in his role as a statesman. In this talk however, Nicholas Cambridge will focus on Franklin’s interest, knowledge and influence in the medical world and the physicians, surgeons, natural philosophers he met at the Royal Society, Society of Arts, Coffee Houses and Taverns including his visits to the Midlands.
“His interests included smallpox inoculation, lead poisoning and the medical use of electricity. The talk also highlights Franklin’s philanthropic endeavours, health issues and his inventions.”
