LICHFIELD City's manager has reassured fans his side will "work hard and compete" in the coming season.
Matty Lovatt has taken the hotseat at the Trade Tyre Community Stadium following the resignation of Ivor Green at the end of last season.
A change of divisions has also seen a number of familiar faces move on over the summer, but the former Dudley Town boss has made a number of acquisitions as he looks to prepare his charges for the new campaign.
They faced Tamworth in their first pre-season encounter, losing out 4-2.
The Lambs got off to a bright start with Jake Hutchinson seeing a shot deflected wide before Morgan Roberts forced a good save from the City keeper.
The breakthrough came when Tom McGlinchy capitalised on a defensive mistake to put Tamworth 1-0 up at half-time.
Kieren Donnelly doubled his side's advantage after the break before Lichfield pulled one back.
But Donnelly added a second to make it 3-1, only for City to reduce the arrears once more when they netted from a free-kick.
The scoring was wrapped up later on when Donnelly added Tamworth's fourth.
Lichfield boss Lovatt said there were plenty of positives to take from his side's performance:
"It was a great occasion for me, but I think that was replicated for all those who attended.
"The game was a tremendous challenge to face such a class step one side early on, but Lichfield fans can rest assured that we're here to work hard and compete."
