A brave batting effort from Brian Fisher saw Hammerwich CC ease to a six wicket victory against Armitage CC.
Armitage won the toss and opted to bat, putting down a marker as they reached 200-9, thanks in part to tail ender Lee Spencer’s bold 46.
Brendon Buchanan took 3-51 for the Hammers, while Dean Pemberton finished with figures or 2-49 and Alan Lett produced economical numbers of 2-33.
In reply, openers Edward Jarvis (37) and Neil Smytheman (36) laid the foundations before Fisher arrived at the crease and fired 75 off 67 balls.
All three were eventually dismissed by Armitage’s Spencer, who finished his bowling spell with figures of 3-60.
But his efforts were not to be enough as Josh Allen (8) edged Hammerwich ever closer to the target before Zak Shingler (20no) and Laurence Burford (2no) pushed their side home in 43.4 overs.
Next up for Hammerwich is a clash against Rugeley on Saturday (May 7).
