Men from Burntwood have been jailed for their part in a bid to supply a kilogram of cocaine.
Six people have been sentenced to a total of 30 years behind bars after a six-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court:
- Christopher Burns, aged 40, of Hill Street, Burntwood – sentenced to 12 years in jail.
- Lee Crowley, aged 42, of Pound Road, Oldbury – sentenced to six years in jail.
- Alexander Floyd, aged 25, of Overton Road, Hammerwich – sentenced to six years in jail.
- Alfred Floyd, aged 26, of Scholars Gate, Burntwood – sentenced to six years in jail.
- Joseph Gregory, aged 41, from Rugeley Road, Chase Terrace, Burntwood was found guilty of possession and was fined £1,750 to be paid over 12 months.
The cocaine was found to have a purity of 81% with a street value of more than £200,000.
The court heard that on 24 November 24 2014, Burns – who headed the gang – directed Alexander Floyd to attend McDonalds in Hagley Road West in Birmingham to collect a package from Crowley. But Floyd was stopped and arrested with 1kg of cocaine found in the foot-well of the Vauxhall Corsa he was driving. It was wrapped in a carrier bag with his fingerprints on.
Detective Inspector Pete Cooke, of Staffordshire Police’s Major and Organised Crime department, said: “These men were clearly significant in the supply of Class A drugs in Staffordshire. The arrests and subsequent convictions of all five are the result of a well-planned operation and this investigation shows that we are determined to rid our communities of drugs and those intent on dealing them.”
