A Burntwood student has been named as one of the UK’s best young hairdressing talents.

Vicky Sandland, a Year 11 student at Chasetown Specialist Sports College, won the Association of Hairdresser and Therapists National School-Link Competition’s evening style category in Blackpool.

To reach the finals, she had to win through a regional round – something she did with flying colours as she was voted first by all of the judges.

And she showed similar skills at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

Vicky explained:

“I came first with five out of the six judges putting me in first place. For winning the Nationals I received a trophy, certificate, £100 cheque, hair products and a badge and bag from the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists.”

Vicky has been polishing up her hairdressing skills by studying on a BTEC vocational course at South Staffordshire College.
