A charity is urging people in Lichfield and Burntwood to check on those living with dementia during the current cold snap.
Icy conditions are expected to continue over the weekend.
But the Alzheimer’s Society said the cold spell coupled with the cost of living crisis may pose added anxiety and challenges for those living with dementia.
Judith King, Alzheimer’s Society’s head of service for the West Midlands, said:
“Winter can be a particularly difficult time for someone living with dementia.
“Colder temperatures can sometime exasperate symptoms as they may not always be able to communicate the fact they are cold – or they may not even recognise it themselves.”

The charity is calling on friends, family and neighbours to ensure those with dementia are dressing appropriately for the weather and are staying active.
They also say people should get out in natural daylight where possible with decreased sunlight causing people with dementia to feel increased anxiety and confusion.
