Chasetown FC are bracing themselves for a battle over striker Alex Steadman.
Reports claim the former Mickleover Sports striker has agreed to switch to the Scholars Ground after his contract expired with the Derbyshire side.
However, because he is under 24, Mickleover are entitled to compensation for their top scorer last season.
Boss Dick Pratley has called an offer of £250 from Chasetown “derisory” and confirmed that the club would be appealing to the Football Association over the level of compensation they are entitled to.
Should Steadman make the move he would be the second arrival at the Scholars Ground already this summer, with former Burton Albion man Darren Stride already confirming his switch as manager Charlie Blakemore looks to build on a promising first season in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.
