Chemical warning for Fradley residents after factory fire

People living in Fradley are being warned to stay indoors after a large factory fire.

Smoke is billowing from industrial premises on Common Lane and firefighters say they do not know if any harmful chemicals are being released into the air.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “”We are currently dealing with a large fire at an industrial premises in Fradley, near Lichfield in Staffordshire supported by Staffordshire Police who are helping to protect the scene of the incident.

“We are asking for local residents in the Fradley area to stay indoors and keep their windows shut to prevent any exposure to the smoke.

“As yet it is not known whether the smoke contains any particularly harmful chemicals but it is asked that local residents follow this advice as a precaution.”
