Burntwood cricketers will be able to enjoy better facilities after help from the local community.
A makeover at Burntwood St Matthews Cricket Club has seen the training, changing and playing facilities revamped as members and volunteers joined forces to contribute well over 450 man hours of labour as a part of the NatWest CricketForce event.
Combined with a £750 grant from Staffordshire County Councillor Steve Tranter and discounts on goods and services from Barnes Skip Hire and C Robinsons Butchers, the club estimates the value of the total works completed to be almost £6,000, doubling the pre-event expectations.
Burntwood St Matthews’ CricketForce Officer, Matt Hoccom said:
“We were absolutely astounded by the amount of support from the local community. To have over 60 volunteers give up their weekend to improve the grounds and facilities proves that community spirit in Burntwood is very much alive and well. We cannot thank the volunteers, Councillor Steve Tranter and our local business supporters enough.”
