The Conservatives have revealed some of their candidates who will be contesting the local elections in Lichfield and Burntwood.
International Women’s Day has seen ten female representatives confirmed as hoping to win or retain seats on Lichfield District Council in May.
They are
- Janice Silvester-Hall – Hammerwich with Wall
- Leona Leung – Hammerwich with Wall
- Deb Baker – St Johns
- Sonia Wilcox – Alrewas and Fradley
- Angela Lax – Stowe
- Norma Bacon – Chasetown
- Heather Tranter – Summerfield and All Saints
- Nikki Hawkins – Armitage with Handsacre
- Serena Mears – Highfield
- Sally Gilbert – Leomansley
Leader of the Lichfield District Council Conservative group, Cllr Doug Pullen, said:
“I’m really pleased that we’ve got such a strong group of candidates – many of whom have been working for their local communities for a number of years in a variety of capacities.
“Having been selected in 2022, I know our team are already out speaking to people on the doorstep and listening to their concerns.
“It seems fitting to announce our female candidates on what is International Women’s Day – and I hope that women from all walks of life and political backgrounds consider standing for election to represent their community this May.”

The unveiling of the female candidates comes after a councillor was forced to leave the Conservative group before being axed from the cabinet earlier this week.
Cllr Liz Little had criticised the decision to de-select her in favour of “two aged over 60”.
She added:
“Just in time for International Women’s Day, I have been removed from my cabinet portfolio.”
