A controversial roadworks scheme will be reviewed by ministers.
Changes at Wall Island were designed to cut tailbacks and reduce the number of lorries overturning, but many motorists have criticised the changes saying they have replaced one set of problems with another.
Complaints have also been raised about the increased delays for drivers heading from the direction of Shenstone and Wall.
Now the area’s MP Christopher Pincher has won a commitment from Transport Minister John Hayes MP who said:
“I am aware of the situation. The Highways Agency spent £1.5 million on the scheme. Nevertheless, I know there remain problems and I am happy for him to meet with me and the Highways Agency to see if the problems can be solved.”
Mr Pincher says the news is good for local people who have become frustrated by the changes.
“Wall Island has been a problem for a year now. It needs to be fixed properly,” he said. “I am very pleased John Hayes has agreed to discuss the problems in detail and I trust he will ask the Highways Agency to fix them.
“I would like him to visit the site and see for himself some of the problems drivers face and I hope he will agree.”
