PLANS for the change of use of an agricultural building for commercial use have been rejected by Lichfield District Council.
Retrospective permission had been sought for the barn at Dunnimere Farm in Harlaston.
A planning statement said the council had issued Planning Contravention Notices in January over the change of use to a workshop.
It added:
"The building changed use on the belief that it was permitted development. However, the owner did not realise that the council should have been notified before changing the use of the site."
However, the council's decision notice said:
"The application seeks the retention of a change of use to Class E (commercial, business and service). However, the activities undertaken at the premises involve works to vehicle engines and constitute use which does not align with Class E.
"Insufficient information has been submitted to demonstrate that any car/vehicle engine repair activities undertaken at the premises would not result in unacceptable noise and disturbance to nearby residential occupiers."
