A councillor has reassured residents that steps are being taken to crackdown on car cruising in Fradley.
Locals have complained about roads around nearby industrial estates being turned into race tracks.
And new Conservative councillor Ben Rayner has vowed to work with the police to tackle the problem.
“We are aware of the issues within Fradley of car racing and cruising that has been taking place – commonly on a Sunday evening,” he said.
“As local councillors we take this issue very seriously and have been active in raising our concern with Staffordshire Police, with Cllr Mike Wilcox involved in dialogue with regards to this issue.”
One of the options which could be explored is the introduction of a High Court Injunction.
A similar move was made in Burntwood with drivers who congregate facing the potential of a two-year jail sentence.
Cllr Rayner – who is one of three Conservative councillors for the area – said action had already been taken while long term plans are drawn up.
“In the immediate term, the police have agreed to increase patrols in Fradley,” he said.
“We wish to request that residents to not take matters into their own hands and continue to contact the police should they witness any problem drivers.
“We will be continuing to work with Staffordshire Police for a long-term strategy.”
