Couple left with facial injuries after unprovoked attack in Lichfield

A couple were left with facial injuries after an unprovoked attack in Lichfield.

They were on their way home at the junction of Birmingham Road and Upper St John Street after watching a World Cup match on July 6 when the incident happened.

Three men were walking away from the city centre along Upper St John Street when one of them pushed the woman from behind causing her to fall against a wall. He then knocked the man to the ground before kicking him.

Police have now launched an appeal to trace the men. A spokesperson said: “A member of the offending group stayed with the injured parties until an ambulance arrived and even took an e-mail address as he was concerned for the woman, but he left before police arrived.”

The main offender was white, aged in his mid 20’s about 6ft tall with a stocky build. He had short black spiky hair and was wearing a horizontal striped top and dark trousers.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 59 of 6 July or, to remain anonymous, contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
