FUNDS raised at a local crematorium are set to boost efforts to support charities in the region.
The AW Lymn Centenary Foundation will add money handed over at its Hammerwich Crematorium and Cemetery to the initiative.
Previous projects supported by the business have included a scheme to improve children's access to books in Burntwood.
Company director and trustee of the foundation, Chloe Lymn Rose, said:
"Our business has long given back to the communities which we serve and Hammerwich should be no different.
"We have undergone a significant period of commercial expansion, and we’re committed to ensuring our charitable arm develops alongside this.
"We know the winter months and Christmas time can put particular strain on local charities and so we would encourage these causes to get in touch to see if they would be eligible for any funding through the foundation."
The foundation was established by the funeral directors in 2007 to mark its 100th year in business.
AW Lymn donates at least £10 for every private adult funeral it conducts.
Hammerwich Crematorium and Cemetery, which was acquired by the company in 2024, will also raise funds through metal recycling at the crematorium.
Chloe added:
"Historically, our foundation has focused on supporting communities served in the East Midlands, as these are the communities which fund it.
"However, since we began to generate funds through the recycling of metals recovered following cremations at Hammerwich, we felt it was important that funding should also be used to support the communities served by the crematorium."
