Any hopes of saving Lichfield’s branch of Debenhams have been dashed after the company’s brand was purchased but not the stores.

The retailer has been looking for a buyer since the end or last year.
Online fashion brand Boohoo has now agreed a £55million to save the brand, but said it would not be taking on any of the company’s staff or stores – including the one at the Three Spires Shopping Centre.
Administrators FRP Advisory said:
“This transaction will allow a new Debenhams-branded business to emerge under strong new ownership, including an online operation and the opportunity to secure an international franchise network that will operate under licence using the Debenhams name.”

Debenhams stores have been shut as part of the current national lockdown.
