Dominant display sees Lichfield overcome Oxford Harlequins

Jack Hurst and Ditch Burton inspire Myrtle Greens to victory.

LICHFIELD produced one of their most assured performances for some time as they overcame Oxford Harlequins.

The Myrtle Greens scored some irresistible tries before half time, with Ditch Burton and man of the match Jack Hurst having a field day against a relatively young opposition who could not cope with the stampede coming their way.

A Hurst break found Freddie Wilson by his side for the first try after six minutes and it was not long before Burton intercepted a pass in his own half before wisely letting Ben Bourne finish off the break.

At 17-0 the game calmed down somewhat. Milner missed a couple of kickable penalties by his standards, and then came three tries in close proximity.

Plenty of goal-line pressure gave Oxford real problems and it eventually ended with a penalty try. The next came from more of the same and Hurst, with an overlap outside him, comfortably scored before another Burton and Hurst foray earned a try for Tyler Moseley.

Will McKinnon found a gap in midfield to gallop over from the 22 and Tom McMahon converted to give the visitors something to smile about at half time.

For ten minutes after the break, Oxford had all the possession and eventually could not be kept out by the Lichfield rearguard as Oliver Cassidy scored.

They kept the ball really well thereafter, but had to wait 25 minutes to score again with Oliver Nunn going over. McMahon converted.
