A dramatic finish to the race at Spa dented hopes of a podium finish for Lichfield racing driver Adam Christodoulou.
The CRS Ferrari was on course for a third place finish with five minutes of the Le Mans Series race remaining when a crash left the car unable to finish.
Things had started well Phil Quaife guided the team into the lead – a position which Christodoulou maintained during his stretch.
Klaas Hummel fell back to third but looked odds-on to steer the Ferrari into third when the FLM car ran into him and brought a cruel finish to proceedings.
CRS team boss Andrew Kirkaldy said:
“We had a great weekend right up until five minutes before the end of race. It was an exceptional race with the car leading for 80 per cent of the time. After so many years it’s still hard to believe how cruel motor racing can be.
“But everyone in the team did an excellent job and we now look forward to Le Mans.”
