Experts will visit Lichfield to help local businesses get value from waste.

The team from the European Bioenergy Research Institute will be at The George Hotel on June 13 and 14.

The two day masterclass is targeted at agricultural, engineering, construction, waste management, financial services and food manufacturing businesses.

The project’s leader, Tim Miller, said: “Redundant material such as food waste, cardboard boxes, plastic waste, textile residues, sawdust, waste oils, manure, hay straw, sugar beet residue, spent grain waste from breweries are only a few examples of waste that could potentially open up fresh possibilities.

“We will explain how to turn waste material into energy, develop new products and services from waste and explore ways to achieve energy efficiency.

“The agenda will include presentations, interactive business games, networking, refreshments and lunch.”

The project is being funded by the European Regional Development Fund and will be free for eligible small and medium enterprises to attend. For more details visit www.bioenergy-for-business.org, call 0121 204 3383 or email bioenergy@aston.ac.uk.
