EXCLUSIVE: The family of a man killed as he crossed the A38 near Lichfield have described him as “a truly great lad”.

Richard Hall, known as Rich to his friends, died at 1.40am on Saturday morning when he was hit by a Ford Focus as he crossed the carriageway at Alrewas.

He had visited a garage on his way home from a night out and had been crossing to his home on the other side of the A38.

Ambulance crews battled to save the 21-year-old’s life at the roadside but he died from his injuries at Queen’s Hospital in Burton upon Trent.

Friends have been paying tribute to Mr Hall on a Facebook group set up in his memory, while his family have also paid tribute to him.

A spokesperson for the family told The Lichfield Blog:

“Rich never let anything faze him. He was a truly great lad who was always smiling and was loved by so many.”
