A new Silver Surfers group near Lichfield is helping older residents get to grips with the internet.
The group, which meets at Mill Lane Link in Fazeley on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, has been introduced to help local residents use the computer and browse the web.
Lichfield District Council and Bromford Living helped the group get started by funding three laptops, large keyboards and a projector.
John Wedrychowski, who runs Silver Surfers, said:
“I’d like to thank the council for its support. If you have poor eye sight or are just confused by technology, having a larger keyboard and up to date equipment really helps. Silver Surfers has got off to a good start and everyone is finding the equipment easy to use.
“Anyone can come along to the two-hour sessions, and there is no upper age limit! We welcome beginners and more experienced computer users who might like to help others.”
Cllr Colin Greatorex, Cabinet Member for Organisational Development and Community, added:
“We were happy to help this worthwhile group get started as we think it is really important that older people are not excluded from the internet. No doubt the group will grow from strength to strength and will also offer local people a chance to get to know one another.”
