The former chairman of Lichfield District Council returned to hand out cheques to charities.

David Smith raised more than £4,800 during his year in the role before stepping down as a councillor before the May elections.
But he returned to the Council House to present cheques for £1,623 to the Friends of St Peter’s Church in Stonnall, Lichfield Cathedral’s East End Appeal and the Forces Children’s Trust.
He said: “It was a great pleasure in my role as chairman to help raise money for three such worthwhile charities.
“Thank you to everyone who supported me in my year as chairman and to all of you who gave so generously to my chosen charities.”
