FOUR second half goals helped Chasetown to a home victory against Nantwich Town.
Oli Hayward, Mitchell Clarke and Joe Thompson’s strikes were joined by an own goal as The Scholars secured three points to leapfrog the visitors in the table.
Mark Swann’s men began brightly and saw Jack Langston fire wide with five minutes on the clock.
Joey Butlin went close five minutes later as he powered an effort over from a narrow angle.
The chances kept coming in the first half as Jack Langston’s free kick was tipped onto the post by Nantwich keeper Ben Garratt – and the Chasetown man then saw another shot saved by the visiting stopper.
The second half saw The Scholars show a more clinical edge as they made the breakthrough on 50 minutes when Jordan Evans crossed for Hayward to slot home.
Five minutes later and it was 2-0 when Nantwich’s James Melhado ended up steering the ball into his own net.
It was 3-0 with 15 minutes of the game left after a long ball found Clarke who slotted home – and number four followed seconds later after Thompson broke the visiting back line to slot past Garratt.
Things could have got even better before the final whistle as Chasetown’s Danny Glover and Joe Dunne both saw efforts saved.
