A charity cricket match in Hammerich has raised more than £400 for St Giles Hospice.
Chasetown FC travelled to Hammerwich CC for the twenty20 game with football referee Alan Wiley taking on the role of guest umpire in front of a large crowd.
Winning the toss Hammerwich captain Dean Pembleton elected to bat, a steady start and tight bowling from Chris Slater and John Branch left The Hammers 20 -0 after six overs.
The first wicket fell in the 11th over with the score on 65. Ryan Price was the surprise star bowler for The Scholars taking 3-30 with J Fisher hitting 52 and Dean Pembleton 37 no as Hammerwich set their visitors a target of 151 to win.
Looking to get of to a good start, Scholars captain John Birt sent in big hitter Chris Horton along with the experienced Steve Maden but the run chase suffered a setback as Horton and then Gary Birch both failed to trouble the scorers. But a partnership of 113 between Steve Maden (40) and Chris Slater (49) in 13 overs gave the visitors a chance.
Next in for Chasetown were John Branch (32no), Dean Perrow (13) and Mark Branch (8no) leaving The Scholars just seven runs short on 143, levelling the annual series at 1-1.
